Directions
-The loop begins at 3500 West St. in the Vernal\Maeser area. Travel north on this road as it climbs into the Uintas. At the National Forest Boundary the road becomes FS-18. Drive 13 miles after entering the National Forest, and turn left onto road FS-027. Follow this road for 5 miles. The last few miles the road is very rough, and 4WD is recommended.

Description-The Lake is a Brook Trout Fishery, and fish populations have increased with rainbow and cutthroat also. There are no facilities at the lake.



Brough Reservoir

Directions
-Brough Reservoir is accessible from U-88 between Ouray and US-40. The turnoff to U-88 is 15 miles west of Vernal and 15 miles east of Roosevelt on US-40. Approximately 3.7 miles south of US 40, U-88, a gravel road to the west is an access road to the reservoir.

Hunting is popular at the lake. There is no boat ramp at the reservoir, but small boats can be launched at certain points.



Brown’s Draw Reservoir


Directions-Take HWY 121 north from Roosevelt, and at Neola, head west about 6 miles to the lake near Boulder Blvd.

Description-The lake offers fishing for rainbow, brown, & cutthroat trout.



Bullock Draw Reservoir

Directions
-From Vernal, head west on US 40, and turn right past Gusher on 9500 East. Follow the road north 2 miles to a small dirt road on the right to the lake.

Description-The lake has a small island in the center, and Cottonwood Lake is right next to it with cliffs along its edge. Cottonwood Lake is 214 Acres.



Calder Reservoir

Directions
-From Vernal, head north on US 191 for 20 miles to Limestone Road, turn right and drive 12 miles to Jackson Draw Road. Turn left here for a mile and right onto Lane County Road. Follow this road to Matt Warner and the reservoir is on the left.



Cottonwood Reservoir


Directions-This lake is just 5 miles north of Gusher near Bullock Reservoir.

Description-Loaded with smallmouth bass & rainbow trout.



Crouse Reservoir

Directions
-From Vernal, head north on US 191 for 20 miles to Limestone Road, turn right and drive 12 miles to Jackson Draw Road. Turn left here for a mile and right onto Lane County Road. Follow this road past Matt Warner and Calder Reservoir the road goes to the right and continues around the reservoir.



Desert Voices Nature Trail

From HWY 40 take SR 149 north which will turn into Blue Mountain Road. After about 8.60 miles turn north to Split Mountain George Campground, the trailhead begins near the entrance.



Dry Fork Nature Trail


.5 mile loop

From Vernal head north on 191, and turn west onto 121. Drive for about 3.5 miles and turn north on 3500 West Street, and drive 6.5 miles to McConkie Ranch. Follow this road for a mile to the parking lot on the left where all the deer antlers are on the wire fence. Continue 2 miles past the ranch turnoff, and turn right at the fork. Drive another 7 miles and turn left at the fork, for another .7 mile to the trailhead on your left.



East Park Reservoir

Directions
-From vernal head north on US 191 for 22 miles, and turn west on Forest Service Road 018, milepost 220.7 a paved road, signed to East Park and Red Cloud Loop. Follow this road for 7 miles, to a fork in the road, and take the right fork for the final mile to the reservoir.

East Park Campground has flush toilets, picnic areas, and campsites.



Hog Canyon

From Vernal head east 13 miles to Jensen, and turn north onto UT-149 for 6 miles to the Dinosaur Quarry. Follow Cub Creek Road 10.1 miles east to the Josie Morris Cabin.



Jones Hole


8 miles RT

Directions
-Drive east out of Vernal on 500 North Street, and take the left fork a mile from town, and follow the signs to Jones Hole. Drive straight on the paved road for 39 miles to the Jones Hole Fish Hatchery. The trail starts at the south end, about 200 yards from the visitors parking area.

Description-This hike is a 2,000 foot deep gorge that runs along the border of Utah and Colorado. The trail begins at the Jones Hole Fish Hatchery, and follows the creek for 4 miles and ends at the Green River in Whirlpool Canyon. You will have to cross the creek after a mile from the trailhead and will walk along a couple pictographs. After 2 miles you’ll reach a junction that leads you to Island Park. Instead stay to the left and cross the creek, and continue on to Green River.



Lake Boreham

-12 miles east of Duchesne on US 40 head towards Bridgeland. From Bridgeland head NE for 1.5 miles and turn right at both forks, and another right on a road east for 2 miles to the reservoir.



Matt Warner Reservoir

Directions
-From Vernal, take US 191 north 20 miles to Limestone Road. Turn right for 12 miles east, and left onto Jackson Draw Road for a mile, and a right onto Lane County Road.

There are rest rooms, and parking on the south side of the reservoir. The reservoir is surrounded with fencing. Fishing is the primary use of the reservoir.



Moon Lake

Directions
-From Duchesne, take US 40 to UT 87 and head north for 15 miles. Turn left at the top of the hill, and make a right at the intersection for another 15 miles to the lake.

Description-There is an unimproved public boat ramp at the south end of the lake. Be careful when attempting to launch a boat because of the sandy shoreline causing vehicles to sink. Moon Lake Campground has 57 campsites, and toilets. There are also some small log cabins available to rent at the resort.



Pelican Lake

Directions
-From Vernal, head west on US 40 and left on UT 88. The turnoff to U-88 is 15 miles west of Vernal and 15 miles east of Roosevelt on US-40. Follow the road to the right at the bottom of the hill.

Description-There is a camping area on the south side of the lake with 18 units and has a concrete boat ramp. Loaded with Bluegill, and stocked with bass makes this lake a great place for fishing. The lake is in open country with mainly sagebrush surrounding the area. The water is crystal clear blue and has many species of birds to see.



Petroglyph Trail

Directions
-From Vernal head north on 191, and turn west onto 121. Drive for about 3.5 miles and turn north on 3500 West Street, and drive 6.5 miles to McConkie Ranch. Follow this road for a mile to the parking lot on the left where all the deer antlers are on the wire fence.

Description-There is a wall of rock art made by the Fremont Indians, and some cabins located here.



Rock Creek Trail


8 mile RT

Directions
-From Duchesne drive 14 miles north on UT 87 to UT 131 2.7 miles north to Mountain Home’s post Office. Turn left at the intersection and drive northwest 23 miles to the trailhead on your right.

Description-The trail begins at the south end of Upper Stillwater Reservoir and follows along Rock Creek. There are wild raspberry bushes here if you need a snack along the way. The trail will lead you across numerous wooden foot bridges over ponds where you can view beavers at work if your quiet.



Upper Stillwater Reservoir

Directions
-From Duchesne, take US 40 to UT 87 and head north for 15 miles, and turn left at the top of the hill. Once in Mountain Home turn left on 6750 North and follow it up the canyon. Drive for 22 miles in a northwest direction to reach the reservoir.

Description-At the reservoir an access road leads across Rock Creek below the dam and up the east slope to the boat launching area at the reservoir.
